ひあがる【干上がる】

1 〔乾ききる〕 dry up; run dry; grow parched; 〔潮が引ききる〕 ebb (away).

●田んぼが干上がった. The rice fields have dried up.

・雨不足が続いてダムの水がほとんど干上がった. There has been no rain for a long time and the dam has almost run dry [is almost empty].

2 〔生活費が途絶える〕
